Detonation combustion
Detonation combustion of fuel in a traveling wave has a number of fundamental advantages compared to heat supply methods used in modern gas turbine engines: high thermodynamic efficiency of the detonation cycle (by 15-20%), simplicity of design, environmental characteristics, the ability to operate on liquid and gaseous fuels, including operation on hydrogen fuel. Experimental work carried out by UEC has confirmed the effectiveness of various versions of detonation engines. Promising engines with a detonation operating principle are capable of providing a breakthrough in aircraft engine construction, comparable in significance to the transition from piston engines to turbojet engines.
